Homemade Curry Powder

currypowder.jpg

Assembling your own spice mixes to use in your kitchen is a fairly easy thing to do.  When it comes to curry powder, I find the ready made stuff sold in the supermarket to be very flat in taste so I make my own.  You can too!  Here's how you make your own Curry Powder...

Ingredients:

2 TBS Ground Corriander

2 tsp Dry Mustard

2 tsp Chili Powder

1 tsp Ground Cardamom

3 tsp Ground Cumin

4 Bay Leaves, crumbled

3 tsp3 tsp Crushed Red Pepper

4 tsp Ground Tumeric

2 tsp Ground Cloves

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

2 tsp Butcher Cracked Black Pepper

1 tsp Ground Ginger

Cooking Procedure:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl

Mix Well

Place the spice mix in a food processor

Process the curry powder for 1 1/2 minutes

Place curry powder in a container & seal it tightly

Note: Store the curry powder in a dark place -- this will prevent light from decreasing the intensity of the spices

Tomorrow we'll use some of this homemade curry powder to make some curried summer squash!  See you then!
